Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using HydraHound. By downloading or using the app, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
About HydraHound
HydraHound is a personal hydration reminder app for iOS, developed and published by Hankin Digital. The app delivers scheduled local notifications, escalating hounding, and optional Beast Mode features to encourage you to drink throughout the day.
HydraHound is provided as a consumer wellness tool only. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and is not a substitute for professional healthcare guidance.
Not a Medical Device
The reminders, suggested drink quantities, and any guidance provided by the app are general wellness prompts only. They are not tailored to your individual medical needs, health conditions, or medications.
Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before changing your fluid intake, especially if you have a medical condition that affects hydration.
Overhydration can be dangerous. Do not drink water in excess of your body's needs. HydraHound accepts no liability for any harm arising from following the app's reminders.
Subscription
HydraHound requires an active subscription to use its core reminder functionality. Subscriptions are offered on a yearly basis and include a 3-day free trial for new subscribers.
- Subscriptions are managed entirely through Apple and your Apple ID.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can cancel at any time by going to your iCloud Subscriptions in Apple Settings.
- HydraHound never sees or stores your payment details.
Pricing is displayed at the point of purchase and may vary by region. Current standard pricing is £9.99 per year after the 3-day free trial.
Beast Mode
HydraHound may offer an optional feature called Beast Mode. Beast Mode is not required to use HydraHound Premium, but if you enable it on a device install, additional credit-based rules apply.
- Enabling Beast Mode grants 5 starter credits on that install.
- Each newly lost day consumes 1 credit.
- Once enabled in-app on that install, Beast Mode cannot be turned off from within the app.
- When available credits reach zero, HydraHound enters a read-only state until more credits are purchased.
Beast Mode is device-local for the current install. Reinstalling the app may reset the feature state and any local credit data unless preserved by your own device backup systems.
Consumable credit pack
If Beast Mode is enabled, HydraHound may offer a consumable in-app purchase for additional credits. The consumable pack is separate from the yearly subscription and does not replace it.
- Credits are consumables and may be used when lost days occur in Beast Mode.
- Consumable credit purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit.
- Credit pack pricing is displayed at the point of purchase and may vary by region.
- Apple manages billing, receipts, and refund handling for these purchases.
Unless otherwise required by law or Apple policy, consumable credits are local to the device install and are not marketed as transferable between devices or Apple IDs.
Local-only credits and restore limitations
Beast Mode credits are stored locally on your device. HydraHound does not operate a user account system or backend ledger for credits.
- Deleting the app may permanently delete unused credits.
- Moving to a new device may result in losing unused credits.
- HydraHound does not currently provide a restore flow for unused Beast Mode consumables across devices.
You are responsible for understanding these local-only limits before enabling Beast Mode or buying a credit pack.
Read-only lock state
If Beast Mode is enabled and your credit balance reaches zero, HydraHound may disable drink logging and stop scheduling reminders until additional credits are added.
During this state, some parts of the app such as stats, history, help, and settings may remain viewable. This read-only behavior is part of the feature design.
Free trial
New subscribers are eligible for a 3-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial period ends, your subscription will automatically renew at the standard annual rate.
Free trial availability is subject to Apple's eligibility rules. Hankin Digital has no control over whether a free trial is offered to a specific Apple ID.
Refunds
All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests for subscriptions or the consumable credit pack must be made directly through Apple by visiting reportaproblem.apple.com. Hankin Digital cannot issue refunds directly.
Your data
HydraHound stores all personal data locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes your drink logs, reminder preferences, app settings, and if enabled, the local Beast Mode credit ledger.
We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data on external servers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Health data
With your explicit permission, HydraHound can write hydration data to Apple Health. This is entirely optional. You can revoke this permission at any time in your iOS Settings under Privacy & Security > Health.
HydraHound reads no data from Apple Health. We write only the drink logs you create within the app.
AI-generated content
HydraHound uses Apple Intelligence on supported devices to generate varied notification copy. All AI processing occurs entirely on-device. No notification content or personal data is sent to any external AI service.
AI-generated messages are motivational prompts only and do not constitute health advice.
Notifications
The core function of HydraHound is delivering local notifications to your device. You must grant notification permission for the app to work as intended.
You can adjust or disable notifications at any time in your iOS Settings. Disabling notifications will prevent the app from functioning as designed. HydraHound accepts no liability for missed reminders caused by disabled notifications.
Acceptable use
You agree to use HydraHound only for its intended personal wellness purpose. You must not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the app's source code
- Use the app in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app or its content
Intellectual property
HydraHound, its name, logo, and all associated content are owned by Hankin Digital. All rights are reserved. The app is licensed to you for personal use only. Ownership is not transferred by your subscription or purchase.
Disclaimer of warranties
HydraHound is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hankin Digital disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Hankin Digital shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use HydraHound.
In particular, Hankin Digital accepts no liability for any health outcomes that result from following the app's reminders or suggested drink quantities, or for any loss of local consumable credits resulting from deletion of the app, device replacement, or limits inherent in a local-only credit system, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the last updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
For material changes, we will endeavour to provide notice within the app.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
