Who we are

HydraHound is published by Hankin Digital, based in England. You can contact us at hello@hydrahound.app.

This Privacy Policy explains how HydraHound handles information relating to you. The short answer is: it doesn't. But we explain the detail below.

Data we do not collect

HydraHound does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

• Your name, email address, or any contact details
• Your drink logs or hydration history
• Your reminder schedule or preferences
• Your location
• Your device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Crash reports or diagnostic data sent to us
• Any usage analytics or behavioural data

There are no servers belonging to HydraHound. There is no backend. There is nowhere for your data to go.

Local storage

All data created by HydraHound — including your drink logs, settings, and reminder state — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.

This data lives in your device's app sandbox, protected by iOS's standard security model. It is backed up as part of your device backup to iCloud or iTunes if you have those features enabled, and is subject to Apple's own privacy practices for iCloud backup.

Deleting the app from your device permanently deletes all local data.

Apple Health

HydraHound can optionally write your drink logs to Apple Health. This is off by default and requires your explicit permission.

HydraHound reads no data from Apple Health — it writes only. The permission is for "Water" data under "Nutrition."

You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security > Health > HydraHound.

Health data written to Apple Health is governed by Apple's own privacy practices.

Notifications

HydraHound's core function is sending local push notifications to your device. These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on-device by iOS. They are not routed through any external servers — not ours, and not Apple's Push Notification Service (APNs). They are local notifications only.

Notification content is generated either from a built-in copy library or, on supported devices, by Apple Intelligence (see below). Either way, this content never leaves your device.

Apple Intelligence

On devices that support it, HydraHound can use Apple Intelligence to generate varied notification copy. Apple Intelligence processes this entirely on-device. No data is sent to Apple's servers or to any third-party AI service to generate these messages.

If your device does not support Apple Intelligence, HydraHound falls back to its built-in copy library. Both paths produce the same result — varied, motivational reminders — with no data leaving your device either way.

Subscriptions and payments

Subscriptions are managed entirely through Apple and your Apple ID. All payment processing is handled by Apple — HydraHound never receives, sees, or stores your payment details, billing address, or any financial information.

To manage or cancel your subscription, go to your iCloud Subscriptions in Apple Settings. For Apple's privacy practices regarding in-app purchases, see Apple's own Privacy Policy.

Third-party services

HydraHound uses no third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, crash reporting services, or tracking libraries of any kind. There is no Firebase, no Amplitude, no Mixpanel, no Facebook SDK, and no similar service embedded in the app.

The only third-party integration is Apple's own StoreKit (for subscriptions) and HealthKit (optional, with your permission). Both are Apple frameworks and are subject to Apple's privacy practices.

Children's privacy

HydraHound is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us at hello@hydrahound.app and we will investigate.

Given that HydraHound collects no data whatsoever, in practice there is no data to delete — but we will respond to any concern raised.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR and applicable data protection law, you have rights including the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data.

Because HydraHound holds no personal data about you on any server, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete on our end. Your data exists only on your own device and is entirely under your control.

If you have questions about your rights or want to raise a concern, contact us at hello@hydrahound.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how HydraHound handles data, we will update this policy and the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. For any material changes, we will endeavour to notify you within the app.
